Movie Review: The Kids Are All Right

1 Mar

Let me start by saying that i don’t really know the purpose of this movie! I mean any movie can be entertaining, but this one was weird for no purpose i guess.

The story is about Nic (Annette Bening) and Jules (Julianne Moore) who are a lesbian couple with 2 kids from an unknown sperm donor. They both have their personality differences just like any couple with family and kids issues. One day the kids secretly look for their sperm donor father out of curiosity and find him. They meet and talk which lead to the moms finding out and that’s when the trouble starts happening.

What I didn’t like about the movie is that i though it should be more interesting, I mean if the story was about a regular family of a husband and wife no one would have seen it, but cuz it’s about a lesbian couple so people felt interested to watch it. The trailer was funny!! But i was bummed that the movie wasn’t! Soo not what i expected!

Rating: 6/10

I haven’t seen the movie nor am I planning to see it, but I guess its purpose is – and as one of those guests (I forgot who exactly) at the Oscars put it: lesbianism is the new trend in movies. So I guess that’s the purpose of it = something that involves lesbianism and that’s it.

I dont think lesbianism is a new thing, there have been so many movies and tv series about lesbians, i dont see why they had to make a very boring story about a lesbian couple :S
