Movie Review: Black Swan

22 Mar

Let start by saying that when i first saw the trailer of Black Swan I didn’t like it much, u don’t get to know the story behind it unless you watch it. My bestie yayo said i won’t like it after she watched it, my other friends didn’t give me much recommendation about it, so it was like a movie that i wouldn’t care about watching, let me also say that i was wrong, my friends were wrong, it was a movie that’s worth watching, and a movie that is worth winning all these awards.

The story is about Nina (Natalie Portman) the ballerina who lives with her mother and almost obsessed with dancing. Her mother was a former ballerina too, who tries to over protect her daughter and make sure she gets what she deserves. The Swan Lake dance is happening soon, Nina fits the white swan role perfectly, however they want someone who can do both parts, the black & and the white together. A new dancer comes into the picture Lily (Mila Kunis) who impresses everyone even Nina with her wild and seductive character who fits the black swan perfectly. Nina starts having weird feelings, emotions and obsessions, which leads her to get in touch with her dark side and battle within.

The movie can be abit confusing, doesn’t make sense, but if you focus just abit while enjoying everything in the movie, you will definitely love it! It’s full of metaphors, connecting stories together, makes you wonder about a lot of things, but at the end it comes to one end. What i liked about it is that each person can explain it differently, and i also think that watching it again would make you notice things you didn’t notice the first time.

What I think also amazing is Natalie Portman way of acting; she has come a long way! I have admired her since she acted in Leon when she was a kid. Am starting to like almost all of her movies, i think she can fit characters perfectly and she deserved all the awards that she received.

If you haven’t seen the movie yet, get it and sit somewhere quiet, when you have nothing on your mind and enjoy it.

Rating: 9/10
