Think: How Long Your Blog Will Last?

28 Jun

Having a blog maybe was one of the best decisions I have ever took in my life (not alone…ofcourse me and Cheeky together), It just brings so much joy to my life and opens a lot of interesting doors for me. To be honest, we never thought that our blog can get anywhere because that wasn’t our intention in the first place, but we have come a long way and we LOVE IT!

Having the place to write whatever that crosses my mind, share the things that i like with others who might find it interesting too, explore new things, build new friendships, these are the most important things that i enjoy by having this blog.  But seeing a lot of the old successful blogs stopping and getting out of the blogging world made me wonder…

This question has been crossing my mind a lot lately, thinking of how long my blog would last? We all know that it’s hard to predict anything in life, as long as you work for it, and we sure will keep working for this blog because we enjoy it, but what i mean what if something came up that we never expected?

I have seen kids blogging, teenagers, people who have kids, even old people! It makes me wonder of how much effort they had to put in this to make it happen? Am sure it’s not easy.

So the big question goes out to you all, how long do you think your blog would last? Are you planning on keep doing whatever you are doing now? Are you thinking of expanding? Or you think this is just a fun thing you are doing for the time being until you get bored?

Share your thoughts with us :)

Love this topic! For me..It started by a very serious interest in other blogs..I started reading blogs every morning, afternoon, and before bed time..until I decided to give a shot to my own personal space..The Side Talk was born!! I used to get so worried and judgmental over what to write and post about and spend hours preparing for it..But now I take it easier..I’m more relaxed and things just flow..I realized the best thing to do it to be urself..Your blog is a reflection for who you are at the end..And that’s what makes blogging so diversified and addictive..I wish to keep doing this for as long as I can cz I just LOVE it :D

How long it will last I’m not sure. There were times when I do not post because I feel overwhelmed from work and my family. There are posts that do not make it because I feel it isn’t appropriate for me to post about because my identity isn’t a secret. A lot know who I am. I even thought about opening a different account where I can rant and vent as much as I like anonymously. Now, I’m working on a blog for my son. He wants to post too ;)

awwwwwww isnt that cute!!! like mother like son!!! just make sure you dont have your influence on him, let him be whoever he wants to be :)
and about the identity, we surely understand what you mean, we kinda went through a phase like that, and alot of people know we are right now, but at the end, we write what we would like to say, it might be just more comfortable in writing than saying it ;)

It depends whether I’m writing to get views (for people) or writing for myself. I started out by writing and being very much concerned about how much views I get. But now I’m more picky about what I write and don’t write anything unless I really feel satisfied about. If I’m not proud about a post then It really wouldn’t feel good no matter how many views it gets. I did quit my blog a couple of times before but I always came back. I think this will be the case. If it’s truly your passion then you always will :)

Can we know what were the reasons behind quiting a couple of times? I mean we never really quit, we have our slow days but during that we feel very guilty as we treat this as our baby.

I had expectations when I started out and was really excited to see results and interaction. When reality didn’t meet my expectations I felt depressed and quit writing for a few days. What made me come back the first time was a reader who checked on me on twitter and asked why I’m not posting much. His words boosted my enthusiasm again. And the second time I came back purely because I missed it. It is my baby now and I wouldn’t give it up no matter how busy I get.

I guess you take some time to “bond” with your blog and find the way to express your true self in it. Only then it becomes so precious as a reflection to who you are :)

Brilliant post & I’m sorry to not have much time to reply in deep details (I’m late to work but I had to read it before I go)
Well in my opinion it really depends on how much you give to it & how much you & your blog “click” Like do you blog as it’s your job? as it’s a must do? (I think u blog as it’s your lifestyle) if my thoughts are correct then it has no limitation and it’ll last until you decide to change ur life style.
I don’t blog if I don’t feel like Blogging, that way it doesn’t bother me and it keeps the main purpose I have of blogging which is sharing any thoughts, ideas that I like or that makes me laugh or wonder etc… I just don’t do anything that may break that joy of posting something new, something makes me wonder what would people think of that! or this videos is going to make people go WOW!
So in short words, It will last until you change ur life style
I feel sorry not to know about your Blog until now btw, will defnitly check again more often.

first of all, thank you for your visit, its always nice to have new visitors :)
So its about the life style? but dont you think most of us in the age of mid or late 20s is hard to change their life style? I mean dont you think most of us have reached a certain point where we know our style and it would be very hard to change?

Definitely, it is indeed hard to change our life style & as I said if Blogging is a life style to you then it ‘s attached to you and to that style & it won’t die unless you change that life style which is as you mentioned a “hard task”
Now how to change our life style & stuff would need another thread which I don’t mind arguing in if you start one :D
